ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's basketball opened the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament on Friday evening with a gutsy 56-52 win over Oberlin.

NOTABLE

• Symantha Shackelford was the the lone Saint in double-figures with 10 points.
• Chandler Eddleton brought down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.
• Claire Smith led all players with four steals on the night.
• Although Marymount struggled from the field, the Saints were 21-27 from the charity stripe
• Marymount outrebounded Oberlin, 42-26.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• It took a little while for both teams to find a rhythm in the first quarter but the Saints finished with a slight 15-10 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
• Although Oberlin took a brief lead in the second quarter, the Saints finished the half on an 8-2 run to maintain a five-point lead at the break.
• The two teams traded leads back and forth until Kyla Treadwell drained Marymount's first three of the night with 1:21 to play to give MU a three-point lead.
• Shackelford also made a late bucket and Smith made a free throw with four seconds remaining to clinch the victory.

• Marymount will host Middlebury in the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament championship on Saturday at 7:30 PM. Middlebury defeated Widener, 66-39, in the nightcap on Friday.
