ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount men's basketball opened the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament with a game that kept the fans on edge. The Saints took down Lynchburg, recovering from their 18-point deficit with less than eight minutes remaining in the second-half.
With the win, the Saints move to 3-0 for the season and will continue Pablo Coto play on Sunday.
Notable
- Marcus Stubbs built on his performance from the Saints' last game. He led the scoring with 28 points and went 4-9 from beyond the arc while going perfect from the stripe.
- Ra'Shawn Cook added 23 points in the contest, adding a perfect free throw percentage and a three pointer with less than two-minutes left of the game to keep the Marymount momentum alive.
- Montell Cooper rounded out the double-digit points with 18. He added four steals for the Saints.
- MU capitalized on the turnovers, scoring 23-points from turnovers.
How It Happened
- The first half was anybody's game with the Hornets having slightly better averages but the Saints gaining more shot attempts, the first half concluded with only a one-point difference.
- After a close first half the Hornets took control in the second half where they built an 18-point lead with under eight minutes to go.
- Stubbs led the Saints offense with three 3-pointers in the next five minutes while Cook added one of his own.
- MU held out and completed their comeback to end the game with an 11-point advantage.
