CHESTERTOWN, Md. – A furious fourth-quarter comeback fell just short on Tuesday night for Marymount women's basketball as the Saints dropped their first game of the season to Washington (Md.), 52-47.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Terra Dzambo (12 points) and Symantha Shackelford (10 points) led the Saints offense. 
• Claire Smith led the team with six rebounds and added two steals.
• After one quarter, Marymount trailed 22-7.
• A strong second quarter saw the Saints cut the deficit to six thanks to a Kyla Treadwell jumper with 15 seconds remaining in the half.
• Washington extended that lead to as many as sixteen in the third quarter as the Saints only mustered one field goal in the period.
• Marymount chipped away in the final frame and got within one point after two Treadwell free throws with 37 seconds left.
• The Saints didn't score the rest of the way and Washington drained four free throws in the final 30 seconds to hang on for the win.

• Marymount will return to Converse for the Pablo Coto Tournament on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19.
