ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's volleyball team's comeback attempt came up short on Wednesday evening, as the Saints fell to the visiting Bullets of Gettysburg College, 3-1, inside of Converse Family Fieldhouse. 

After Gettysburg (6-4) took a 2-0 lead, MU (4-5) battled back and rolled to a win in the fourth set. The Saints swung at a match-best .444 clip during the frame and held the Bullets to a paltry -.067 hitting percentage. 

Gettysburg opened an early 7-3 lead in the set, but the Saints responded with five consecutive points, punctuated by a service ace from Sarah Pham, to seize an 8-7 edge. MU never ceded control from there and used a 4-0 run to open a 21-11 lead. Back-to-back kills from Elissa Munsterman and Kaitlyn Doyle brought the set to a close at 25-13.

Despite MU's burgeoning momentum, Gettysburg opened a 9-1 lead early in the fourth set. The Blue and White battled back with a 5-0 run of their own, which featured kills from Caylee Shelton, Munsterman, and Doyle, and set the score at 18-14.  Gettysburg held fast, however, and took the set 25-15. 

Munsterman and Doyle paced the Saints' offense with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Munsterman swung at a tidy.355 clip, which marked her most efficient performance of the season. Doyle finished with a double-double with 14 digs. Natalie Garbalosa registered her second match with over 30 digs this season with 33 digs against the Bullets. Sydney Sands tallied a match-high 30 assists.

Marymount continues its homestand on Saturday, September with a tri-match in Converse Family Fieldhouse. The Saints host St. Mary's College of Maryland and Salisbury University at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
