ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Marymount University women's swimming team returned to the pool on Friday in a dual meet against St. Mary's College of Maryland, falling by a score of 102-74.
Sophomore Delaney Carey and freshman Caryn Sanclementi lead the way with a first-place finish, each. Carey took first in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:03.85. Sanclementi took home the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.21.
Junior Kahley Alteri took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:26.06.
Sanclementi added a silver medal, finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:33.62.
The Saints got two more second-place finishes from freshman Isabella Ochalik in the 500- and 1000-yard freestyles. In the 500, she posted a time of 5:57.46, and in the 1000 she finished in 12:26.62.
Freshman Arianna Koerner tallied MU's final second-place finish with a time of 27.41 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.
Junior Madeline DeMarco finished just behind in the 50 free in third (28.39 seconds). She added another third in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:04.26.
Koerner took third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.29, while freshman Grace Tarantino placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:23.19.
The Saints started the day in the 400-yard medley relay, as Koerner, Sanclementi, Carey, and DeMarco teamed for second with a time of 4:26.23.
To cap the meet, Ochalik, Carey, Tarantino, and Alteri placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:12.56.
The Saints will now look forward to the Atlantic East Conference championships, set to begin on Friday, April 23.
