Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's basketball team hosted Salisbury University on Wednesday night, dropping a non-conference matchup, 66-47.
Trailing by five midway through the first quarter, the Saints battled back with a 10-0 run to take the lead. Senior Katie McShea scored four points in the spurt to lead the way.
Marymount took a 13-10 lead into the quarter break and continued to hold the advantage through a closely-contested second frame. Junior Claire Smith put away five points, while sophomore Chandler Eddleton tallied four in the period.
At halftime, the Saints led 24-19 and were holding the Sea Gulls to just 25 percent shooting in the first half. Eddleton led the way with eight points in the opening half.
Junior Symantha Shackelford drained a three-pointer to start the second half for the Saints, but the Sea Gulls came storming back with eight-straight points to take a 29-27 lead.
Salisbury used a 22-point third quarter to flip the advantage in its favor, 41-34, heading into the fourth quarter.
Eddleton cut the lead for Salisbury to just three with a make from long range at the 7:39 mark of the fourth, but that was as close as the Saints would get, as the Sea Gulls pulled away in the final frame.
Eddleton led the team with 11 points, while Smith added 10. McShea paced the team on the boards with nine rebounds; Eddleton and Smith, each, pulled down eight apiece.
Marymount will return to the court on Saturday, December 4 on the road at the University of Mary Washington. The opening tip is set for 1 p.m.
