ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Marymount University women's swimming team earned two victories on Saturday in a double-dual meet over Cedar Crest College, 162-74, and Marywood University, 124-115, in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Saints were paced by junior Delaney Carey and sophomore Arianna Koerner, who each tallied two first-place finishes.
Carey earned the gold in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.26 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.00, while Koerner took first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.58 and the 50-yard freestyle in 27.60 seconds.
Koerner added a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke for a time of 2:25.86.
The pair helped the team to a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as well, teaming with senior Madeline DeMarco and sophomore Caryn Sanclementi for a time of 1:59.38.
Koerner was joined in the 50 free by DeMarco, who finished second in 28.23 seconds.
In the 100 backstroke, sophomore Abigail Kirtland finished second, just behind Koerner, with a time of 1:07.48.
Junior Madison Grubb added a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:16.03. Sanclementi placed second, touching the wall less than a tenth of a second later in 1:16.11.
Grubb went on to finish second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:49.35.
The Saints got two-more second-place efforts from sophomore Isabella Ochalik in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly. In the 200 free, she touched the wall in 2:11.62, while adding a time of 2:31.44 in the 200 fly.
Marymount ended the meet on a strong note, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. DeMarco, Ochalik, junior Ellen Bryce, and sophomore Grace Tarantino finished the race in 1:52.58.
The Saints will return home in the New Year for their next meet, hosting Randolph-Macon College on Saturday, January 8 at 12 p.m.
