FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Marymount University women's swimming team put up a pair of valiant fights on friday evening, but the Saints ultimately fell to the University of Mary Washington and Southern Virginia University.
MU was led by junior Delaney Carey, who earned a pair of top-five finishes. Carey finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.95 and claimed third in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing narrowly behind second-place with a time of 1:03.52.
Arianna Koerner added a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.39), while Isabella Ochalik wrapped up the 200-yard butterfly in fifth with a time of 2:31.36.
Madison Grubb grabbed the fifth-spot in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:49.66. Ella DeNicola finished just behind Grubb in the event with a time of 2:49.89.
Marymount is back in action on Saturday, October 30, when it heads to St. Mary's City, Maryland for a 1:00 p.m. meet. The Saints will take on St. Mary's College (Md.), Cabrini University, and Immaculata University.
