PROGRAM RECORD: Saints Hold Wolverines To Just 15 Points To Open Up Second Half Of League Play

Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount University women's basketball team put on a show in front of its alumni on Saturday afternoon, holding Wesley College to just five field goals and a program-record 15 points en route to a 68-15 victory to open up the second half of Atlantic East Conference play.

The Saints gave up no more than five points in all four quarters, including a third quarter that held the Wolverines to just two points. MU forced Wesley into 34 total turnovers with 14 Saints steals led by junior Aidan Phillips with five and sophomore Katie McShea with four. Of the 34 turnovers, the Saints converted them into 39 points.

Marymount's stout defense, that currently ranks 17th in the country in scoring defense with 51.6 points allowed per game, held the Wolverines to 15.6-percent shooting on 32 attempts, while four of their 15 points came from the free-throw line.

Offensively, the Saints started off the game with 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back. As a team, MU shot 44.3 percent from the floor led by McShea's game-high 23 points and 10-for-17 shooting. Of the 11 Saints that saw playing time, 10 registered points and everyone played at least 10 minutes.

Phillips controlled the pace of the game with a game-high seven assists to go with her five steals and four points.

The Saints will carry their five-game win streak into next Wednesday's showdown against Cabrini University, the only squad MU has fell to this season in league play. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m., in the Converse Family Fieldhouse.
