Saints Sweep Season Series With York (Pa.) Following 72-49 Road Victory

Box Score

YORK, Pa. - The five starters for the Marymount women's basketball team combined to score 66 of the team's 72 points, with four scoring at least 12, as the Saints swept the season series with CAC rival York (Pa.) for the fourth-straight season with a convincing 72-49 victory Saturday at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

Marymount (17-2, 12-0 CAC) has now won eight-straight overall nine consecutive against the Spartans.

Sophomore Regan Lohr finished with a game-high 23 points, two shy of her career high set in a 65-45 victory at St. Mary's (Md.) on December 2. She tied a career high with five three-pointers, equaling the mark she set at Frostburg State on January 3. Junior Tyffani McQueen totaled 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals while seniors Nicole Viscuso and Leah Hurst each added 12 points. Hurst also had eight assists.

York (12-7, 8-4 CAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the game's first 1:35, but the Saints scored the next 11 to take a seven-point lead following two free throws by sophomore Tenesha Green with 5:05 remaining in the first quarter.

The Spartans pulled within three on two Katie McGowan free throws with 8:14 left in the second, but they would not score again until a McGowan layup at 3:10 as Marymount built a 27-15 advantage. York managed just four points over the final 8:14 and finished the second quarter with just eight points as the Saints led 36-19 at the half.

Today marked the sixth-straight game and 15th out of 19 this season that Marymount has held its opponent to single digits in a quarter, an achievement the team has done 23 times.

The Saints never let their lead slip below 13 points in the second half while extending it to as many as 25. Lohr scored 13 of her points in the second half while McQueen added nine.

Marymount travels to Southern Virginia on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m., tip-off in Buena Vista. The Saints won the previous meeting between the two teams, 85-52, back on November 29.
