ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount women's swimming team collected another victory on Friday night, moving to 2-0 to start the season with a 98-79 decision over Gallaudet University in a non-conference dual meet.
The Saints touched the wall first in all 10 races, including two relay victories in the 200-yard Medley and 200-yard Freestyle.
Sophomore Hayley Elizondo and junior Taylor Plumley led the way with two top finishes, while two freshmen earned their first top finishes of the season.
Plumley earned first in the 50-yard free (26.82) and 100-yard free (58.30), as she sits perfect for the season thus far with four top finishes through four individual races.
Elizondo collected a top finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.69, roughly 46 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She quickly added her second top finish in the next women's race, touching the wall in 1:00.72 in the 100-yard butterfly. The time is good enough to move her into fourth in program history, her fourth top-10 list she is now currently on.
Freshmen Grecia Gudino and Sandra Baumgardner earned their first collegiate top finishes on Friday night, as Gudino earned first in the 200-yard free (2:18.39) and Baumgardner in the 500-yard free (6:12.99).
Senior Morgan Alston and junior Claire Cassidy each earned top finishes as well in the 100-yard back (1:06.73) and 100-yard breast (1:16.51), respectively.
The Saints dive right back into action tomorrow, Saturday, November 18, as they travel down 95 to Ashland, Virginia for a dual meet with Randolph-Macon College. First race is set for 1 p.m.
