Washington, D.C. – Marymount University's women's swimming team defeated Division I foe Howard 102-80 on Saturday afternoon. The Saints improve to 5-3 on the season.
Marymount won five events on the day and swept medalist honors in two. Opening the day with a victory in the 400 medley relay the team of Kassidy Schmidt, Jessica Hester, Bridget Wunderly and Casey Thomas posted a time of 4:17.91 for the win.
The Saints went on to claim the first of two event sweeps. Morgan Parkin, Alison McDermott and Rebecca Preston went 1-2-3 in the 1000 freestyle while Wunderly, Parkin and Hanna Del Signore later swept the 500 freestyle to dominate the distance events.
Thomas posted Marymount's other two victories – winning both the100 and 200 freestyle events. Katie Moran followed with a second place showing in each of the 50 and 100 freestyle heats while Isabella Blecha finished third in the 50 freestyle.
Marymount also claimed 2-3 showings in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
The Saints return to action as they close out the regular season against Capital Athletic Conference foes Frostburg State and Mary Washington on Saturday in the home finale at 2 p.m.
