Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's
women's swimming team split a pair of non-conference
decisions in a double-dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The Saints
defeated former Capital Athletic Conference rival Catholic 133-128
but lost to Washington & Lee 150-108.
Anna Macedonia continued to impress, winning all four events
she swam in on the day. She posted a 59.66 to win the 100
backstroke while claiming the top spots in the 50 freestyle at
25.08 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.83. Macedonia also
teamed with Katie Moran, Meghan Morch and Casey Thomas to win the
200 freestyle relay in 1:42.82.
Other individual standouts included Kim Rizzo placing second
in the 400 IM in 4:53.83, Emily Wagner finished third in the 100
breaststroke in 1:14.80 and Bridget Wunderly placing third in the
200 butterfly in 2:20.54.
Moran also excelled in the freestyle events, finishing third
in both the 50 free and 100 free with times of 25.66 and 56.74,
respectively.
Morch, Rizzo, Wagner and Wunderly all also placed second in
the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.68.
Marymount returns to the lanes on Saturday, February 4, as it
hosts CAC foe Frostburg State in the final meet before the 2012 CAC
Championships.
