Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University's
women's swimming team split a pair of Capital Athletic
Conference meets to open the New Year. The Saints topped Salisbury
118-86 but fell to host Mary Washington 118-86.
With the Saints (3-2, 3-2 CAC) winning five of the overall
events, Anna Macedonia led the way with victories in all three
events she swam in. She posted a 25.41 to win the 50 freestyle, a
1:01.21 to win the 100 backstroke and teamed with Casey Thomas,
Katie Moran and Meghan Morch to win the 200 freestyle relay with a
time of 1:42.56.
Thomas also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.23 and
placed second in the 200 freestyle at 2:03.36. Moran was third in
the 100 freestyle at 56.83.
Also impressive, Kim Rizzo won the 200 IM at 2:19.97 and was
second in the 500 freestyle at 5:35.21.
Bridget Wunderly posted a pair of second place finishes,
completing the 1000 freestyle in11:34.79 and the 100 butterfly in
1:02.41.
Marymount returns to the lanes on Saturday as it hosts
Catholic and Washington & Lee in non-conference
action.
