Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's
women's swimming team topped visiting Hood 123-59 in Capital
Athletic Conference action on Saturday. The Saints won eight events
to pick up their first team victory of the season.
Opening the short program with a win, the MU team of Anna
Macedonia, Emily Wagner, Jackie Finn and Meghan Morch posted a time
of 1:59.42 in the 200 Medley Relay to beat teammates Kelly
Labriola, Jessica D'Abraccio, Kim Rizzo and Caroline
Rahmlow's second place 2:08.72.
The Saints (1-3, 1-2 CAC) then added another one-two finish
in the 1000 freestyle as Katie Scott and Labriola placed times of
11:47.77 and 11:57.70, respectively. Keeping the trend going, Katie
Moran and Rizzo took the top-two spots in the 200 freestyle at
2:08.02 and 2:09.79 while Finn, Katie Martocci and Rahmlow went
1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle with times of 27.13, 27.29 and
29.84.
It wasn't until the ninth event that Marymount
didn't place at least the top-two finishes as Scott and Sara
Yoskoski placed second and third in the 200 IM at 2:31.05 and
2:33.17.
The Saints bounced back in the 100 butterfly as Finn, Morch
and Martocci placed 1-2-3 at 1:05.62, 1:05.80, and 1:07.09 before
Macedonia won the 100 freestyle by more than nine second at 54:80.
Marymount added another top-three sweep in the 100 backstroke as
Moran, Wagner and Labriola swept the event with times of 1:07.69,
1:08.06 and 1:09.66.
Rizzo won her first event in the 500 freestyle with a time of
5:40.99 over Yoskoski at 5:52.45.
Marymount returns to action at the Franklin & Marshall
Invitational in December.
