Angela Amato

Assistant Coach Angela Amato enters her second year with the Saints ahead of the 2024 season after a successful and historic 2023 trek on the Marymount staff.

During her first year with the program, Amato was a part of the coaching staff that took the Marymount program to new heights.

After helping lead the way to the Saints' first appearance in the Atlantic East Conference Championship, Marymount took home the trophy in a thrilling overtime win over Marywood, notching the program's first-ever conference championship. The team made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

In conference awards, Leila Lajdel earned Rookie of the Year honors, with Laney Placido placed on an AEC All-Conference Team.

Prior to Marymount, Amato spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach with her Alma Mater at Susquehanna University.

During her time there, she was a part of the staff that led the team to a regional ranking, finishing with a 14-5 overall record. The team was honored with multiple all-conference, all-region, and All-America honors.

Working primarily with the defenders, Amato helped coach the team on their way to set a new program record for most shutouts in a row, while having two players earning Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the Landmark Conference.

Amato was a two-year captain during her playing years for the River Hawks, garnering multiple Landmark Conference accolades during her career from 2010-14.

Aside from her role here at Marymount, Amato has worked with North Union United, DC Soccer Club, and the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association, while holding a USSF "D" Coaching License and being a certified Level 2 CrossFit Trainer.

Amato graduated as a Gilman Scholar from Susquehanna in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Spanish.

She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling here at Marymount and is a USYS Maryland ODP Coach.Â
