Matt Brigham is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Marymount men's lacrosse team.
In 2023, Marymount made it back to the conference championship and finished the season as the Atlantic East runner-up for the second year in a row. The Saints finished with nine wins and once again set new program records for goals (238) and points (389).Â
Six Saints were named All-Conference in 2023 with two being named First Team honorees. Additionally, Sebastian Radovic was named the Atlantic East Conference Man of the Year and a USILA Scholar All-American. The 2023 season also marked a number of individual career and individual records broken by Jack Williams. He finished the season setting new highs for single-season points (89), single-season assists (56), career assists (88), single-game points (13) and single-game assists (12).Â
The 2022 campaign saw Marymount reach a conference championship for the first time in program history as the Saints finished as the Atlantic East runner-up. The Saints finished 9-9 and set new program records for goals (235), assists (152), and points (387).
Brigham continued to evolve Marymount's offense during the 2021 season, which resulted in a run to the Atlantic East semifinals. MU potted 139 goals during the campaign, which was second in the conference behind only nationally-ranked Cabrini University. He helped mentor rookie attacker Jack Williams to a 50-point debut season, which is tied for 10th in single-season program history. Brigham also helped Clark Akers break the 100-goal plateau during the season.
Brigham was with the Saints in 2019Â as a volunteer assistant coach, helping lead the team through its first season in the Atlantic East Conference. Primarily working with the offense, he helped the team post a 10.11 goals-per-game average, which improved to 12 goals per game in conference play.
Under his tutelage, attackman Clark Akers set the program records with 49 goals and 79 points on the year, while being named second-team All-Atlantic East.
Brigham brings a wealth of knowledge to the Saints, also serving as the director of Lacrosse at Camp Laurel in Maine, leading a camp of over 500 lacrosse players. He also was the head coach for the Brighton Bombers U15 lacrosse team and as a coach for the East Coast Wizards for players from U9 to high school levels.Â
On top of his coaching experience, he also led an international playing career, following a four-year career at Bentley University from 2012-2016. At Bentley, Brigham was named to the New England-10 All-Rookie team and the All-New England Preseason team.
Following his undergraduate degree, he attended Durham University in the United Kingdom for graduate school and to continue playing from 2016-17. In 2017, he was a member of the BUCS National Championship team.
Over the summer of 2019, Brigham played in a semi-professional league with the Brighton Bombers Lacrosse Club in Adelaide, Australia, helping the team advance to the League Championship game.
