Yoni Gelb

Yoni Gelb enters his first season as an Assistant Coach on the men's basketball staff ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Gelb comes to Marymount after two seasons as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Alfred University. While there, the team posted a 34-22 overall record, 22-12 in the Empire 8 Conference.

In the 2022-23 season, Alfred earned their first-ever ECAC Tournament Championship with Gelb on the staff, while also posting just the fourth 20+ win season and tied for the best E8 record in school history. The team was in the top-50 nationally in scoring defense, scoring margin, and three-point field goals made. They also led the conference in scoring defense and opponent three-point field goal percentage.

While at Alfred, Gelb handled many responsibilities to assist the coaching staff, but focused on the coordination of first-year recruitment, assisted in the running of practices and player development, study halls, and other events within the basketball program. He recruited four All-E8 selections and the 2024 E8 Rookie of the Year runner-up.

On the academic side, he helped guide eight student-athletes to earn a spot on the E8 President's List and four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District squad.

Prior to Alfred, Gelb was the Head Coach for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Women's Club Basketball team for four seasons and led the program to a 2022 NIRSA National Championship. The team was selected at the UW-Madison Sports Club of the Year that same season.

Gelb played college basketball at Denmark Technical University. During high school, he was a two-year captain and three-year starter at Maimonides School, where he is a member of the 1,000 point club.

Gelb graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UW-Madison where he was a six-time dean's list recipient and earned his Master's of Arts in Business Administration from Alfred University.Â
