MVB: Saints Sweep Both Saturday Matches

ASHLAND, Va. -- Marymount's men's volleyball continued their time in Ashland, Virginia this Saturday and were looking to place some wins on the board. 

The team faced off against Regent University at noon, which ended with a win for the Saints (3-0) alongside another sweep from their Bridgewater game. In both games, Brady Wiggers was a standout player. He was awarded All Tournament Team for the tournament. 

These wins place the Saints at a 3-5 record.

MARYMOUNT 3 REGENT 0 

  • The Saints won and did a clean sweep over Regent, winning all three sets. 
  • The first set was won with a 12 point margin, 25-13.
  • In the following two sets, the team kept a comfortable lead of 25-17 and 25-18. 
  • As a team, the Saints dominated over Regent in terms of point (52), kills (30), and assists (26). 
  • Marymount served all 13 of the aces during the match. 
  • Mihir Peta was the Saints team leader in kills with nine, alongside teammate Callen Wolf who logged 7. 
  • Carter Gresham claimed 19 assists and 10 digs. 
  • Bryce Schkeeper was a defensive unit with eight blocks.

 MARYMOUNT 3 BRIDEWATER 0

  • The Saints had another clean sweep over Bridgewater, winning all three sets. 
  • The first set was won with a 11 point margin, 25-14.
  • In the following two sets, the team kept a similar lead of 25-15 and 25-11. 
  • As a team, the Saints dominated over Regent in terms of point (59), kills (44), assists (41), and digs (27). 
  • Marymount served 10 out of the 11 aces during the match. 
  • Brady Wiggers was the Saints team leader in kills with 10, alongside teammate Ethan Li who struck down nine. 
  • Brady Wiggers also claimed the most service aces with three.
  • Diego Peña claimed 28 assists and two service aces. 

UP NEXT

  • The Saints seek a rematch against Stevenson University on February 3rd, looking to put a up a win after a nail-bitting loss earlier in the season. 
  • The first serve is set for 7:00 PM and will be the teams first home match.
