HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Marymount baseball took the lead into the ninth at Hampden-Sydney Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers mounted the comeback to walk off the Saints, 4-3.
The loss puts Marymount's overall record at 18-15 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Starters on the mound for both teams pitched clean innings through the third. Hampden-Sydney got on the board first in the bottom of the fourth, plating a pair to take the early lead.
- Marymount answered with an RBI single off the bat of Quincy Via in the top of the fifth to even it up.
- Ryan Cuadros drove in Andrew Schaeb with an RBI single in the Saints next at-bat to take the lead.
- The Saints were unable to push anything else across, putting the Tigers down just one in the bottom of the ninth. They scratched across the two runs they needed to walk off with the win.
- David Muirhead pitched 7.0 strong innings, allowing just two runs, one earned, with nine strikeouts.
- Via had two RBI, with Cuadros adding the other.
- Bobby Leitzel, Jack Kern, and Jordan Dickson each added a hit on the day.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will take on another non-conference foe on Wednesday, as they will host Penn State Harrisburg at Capital One Park with first pitch slated for 6 PM.
- They will get back to AEC play this weekend with Centenary at home.
