Men's Volleyball Falls Short in Tri-match

Arlington, Va. -- Marymount men's volleyball fell short in their matches this Saturday evening, where they were unable to keep up with Vassar and EMU. The team was able to honor their seniors tonight, Luke Pogue, Mason Moore, and Nickolas Blose

VASSAR 3 - MARYMOUNT 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marymount's team leaders in kills was Diego Pena, who racked up 5 kills.
  • Mason Moore lead the Saints in aces and blocks, with one ace and two blocks.
  • Carter Gresham dominated with 15 assists, setting up the team for various point opportunities.
  • Gresham continued his domination in digs, leading the Saints with six.
  • In the first set, Marymount fell short within the first couple points.
  • Throughout the first set, the Saints trailed by about 10 points.
  • The first set closed out 25-12 in favor of Vassar.
  • In the second set, a service ace by Esteban Jauregui tied up the match 8-8.
  • Another kill by Ethan Li gave Marymount another tie of 9-9.
  • Unable to close out the second set, Vassar won 25-17.
  • Johnathon Pickering claimed Marymount's first point with a kill to open set three.
  • The team unfortunately began to fall behind, losing set three 25-19.
EMU 3 - MARYMOUNT 2
  • Throughout the game, the Saints secured six aces, two of which came from Ethan Li.
  • Marymount led the game with 45 total assists, 34 of which were from Carter Gresham.
  • Diego Pena dominated with 20 kills.
  • Esteban Jauregui Was able to account for the most Saint digs, gaining 10.
  • This game was a hard fought one, which can be seen through each set.
  • The two teams danced back and forth, with the first point going to Marymount with a kill by Luke Pogue.
  • The teams tied 10 times throughout the first set, but fell short with a final score of 22-25.
  • Bouncing back and forth, the teams tied nine times in set two.
  • Ultimately the Saints won set two 25-23.
  • After 15 times of back-and-forth tying, Marymount was able to win set three 25-22.
  • Set four was won by EMU, 25-21.
  • The game went into a fifth and final set where Marymount fell short 15-12.
