ARLINGTON, Va. -- On a day to celebrate Marymount women's basketball's senior, the Saints put on a show for the home crowd, throttling Centenary in Atlantic East action, 75-50.
With the win, the Saints improve to 7-13 on the year, 4-3 in the AEC. They sit in a tie for second place right now with Neumann heading into the tail end of the regular season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samantha Bulik opened the scoring in a big way, sinking a three in the first possession of the game to get Marymount on top early.
- Grace Damato sank a bucket inside of the arc to retake the lead in the opening minutes of the contest to keep the offensive momentum moving.
- Back-to-back scores from Kaylah Barr and Damato gave Marymount an 11-6 lead in the first quarter of action.
- Jaylah Thompson sank a buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter to give the Saints a 20-12 lead at the short break.
- Ava Achtyl drove down the lane to begin the second quarter, followed by Barr finding Ella Morrison with an open look in the lane to keep Marymount on the offensive.
- Marymount staying on strong, Kelly Ceroll tipped in an offensive rebound to give the Saints a 15-point advantage.
- Morrison found Cara Vollmer with an open look outside of the arc to sink the three. Vollmer followed it up with another bucket to push MU out to a 19-point lead.
- The Saints went into the half up 40-25.
- The Saints maintained an evened out offense in the third quarter, highlighted by threes from Vollmer and Bulik, to push their lead out to 28.
- Thompson drained a three-pointer in the fourth quarter to jump the lead out to 31.
- One more jump shot from Damato finished out the scoring for Marymount, giving them the decisive win.
- Vollmer posted a team-high 16 points, going 4-5 from three-point range, with two assists.
- Bulik had 14 for the Saints, going 5-of-8 from the floor, with three rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Barr had 11 off of the bench for Marymount with eight rebounds.
- Morrison had nine, adding seven assists and six rebounds.
- Damato notched eight in her start alongside three rebounds and three assists.
- Achtyl had six points and five rebounds on her senior day.
- Ceroll notched a pair of steals with three rebounds.
- Catie Kolwey grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
- As a team, the Saints shot 50% from the floor and from beyond the arc.
