WBB: Saints Honor Pablo Coto, Fall To The Seagulls

ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's basketball put together an efficient offensive showing on Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 72-65 decision against Salisbury inside Converse Family Fieldhouse. This game was in honor of Pablo Coto's memory. Pablo was a standout player for the Marymount Men's Basketball team in the early 1990s. During his senior season he collapsed and died on the court due to a heart condition. He was 21 years old. Pablo was an all-conference player who scored over 1,000 career points. He led the Saints to their 1st conference title as a junior and made every shot he took in the title game. He was inducted into the Marymount hall of fame in 2009. Marymount has been playing in his honor since 2013.

NOTABLE

  • Catie Kolwey delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, scoring 20 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-12 shooting, while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. She also contributed three steals and a block.

  • Cara Vollmer posted 17 points, hitting 7-of-14 from the floor with six rebounds and two assists, marking her second double-figure scoring game this week.
  • Crystal Wright added six rebounds, three assists, and a steal while shooting a perfect 1-of-1 from the floor.
  • As a team, the Saints shot 53.7% from the field and dominated inside with 50 points in the paint.
