SALEM, Va. -- The Saints claim their first season victory this Friday evening against Guilford College. The 84-68 cushioned win sets the Saints up for success in their next game of the Frankie Allen Tip-Off Classic.
The double digit victory gives the Saints a record of 1-2.
NOTABLE
- The young duo of sophomore Anthoney McClary and first-year Brian Poore both led the team in points with 16.
- Able to shift momentum, Jerome Lowrey led the team with two steals.
- Avery Oduro-Dompreh dominated defensively with two blocks.
- Reuben McEachern was the Saints playmaker of the evening, leading the team with five assists.
- Marymount logged 32 bench points and ten fast breaks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints opened up the first half by quickly taking the lead with a three-point shot made by Anthoney McClary.
- The lead continued to grow, with the team reaching an 11 point lead of 29 to 18 after back-to-back three-point shots sunken by James Bell and Brian Poore.
- The half closed out with a lead for the Saints and a score of 51-42.
- The Saints dominated the second half and played through the half without giving up their lead.
- The Saints were able to maintain an approximate ten point lead throughout the entire second half, really breaking away by the final five minutes.
- When the pressure was on and the game clock was running out, the Saints were able to dominate at the net and gain a 15 point lead.
- By the end of the game, the Saints closed out with a 16 point lead after a free throw was made by Max Pearcy.
- The game ended with a final score of 84-68 in favor of the Saints.
