Men's Basketball Sits Alone in First with Win Over Neumann

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount men's basketball sits alone at the top, moving to first place in the Atlantic East Conference with their win over previously undefeated in the AEC Neumann Wednesday night.

With the win in front of the home crowd, the Saints improve to 11-6 overall on the season, now 5-0 in conference action.

NOTABLE
  • Issac Harris led the way for MU, dropping 18 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc with six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
  • Reuben McEachern notched 11 off of the bench for the Saints, adding seven boards and assists.
  • Max Pearcy had 10 on the night with three steals.
  • Anthoney McClary dropped 10, going a perfect 4-4 from the floor, with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Jase Mosley, this week's AEC Player of the Week, had eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neumann jumped out to a 9-2 lead to kick off the game, but a three from Pearcy got the Saints moving.
  • After a steal from McClary and a dish out to McEachern to score the fast break bucket, the Saints cut the lead down to just two. 
  • The Knights went up by eight, but McClary with a three and McEachern with another fast break put Marymount within three again with just over nine minutes left in the half.
  • A quick run from the Saints, capped off by a three from McClary, turned the tides and gave the Saints a nine point advantage.
  • A five point spurt to close out the first half sent the Saints into the locker room with a ten point lead.
  • Nuemann cut the lead to six, with Miles Phillips answering to push the Saints back into offensive motion.
  • Pearcy drained a three to put the Saints up eight with just over 15 minutes left of play.
  • Marymount continued to have answers, jumping out to a fifteen point lead with a three from Harris.
  • Marymount never looked back to claim the win and the top spot in the AEC.
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Pratt Institute for more Atlantic East play on Saturday at 1 PM.
  • They will be back at home Saturday, Feb. 1 against Immaculata at 4 PM.
