BALTIMORE – Marymount women's volleyball continued its challenging non-conference schedule on Saturday as it faced a pair of nationally-ranked opponents in Johns Hopkins and Ithaca to close out the Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament.
ITHACA 3, MARYMOUNT 0
- The Saints scored the first three points of the match against the No. 19 ranked Bombers, but Ithaca quickly responded to take control and win the first set, 25-16.
- In set two, MU led for most of the set and held a 19-14 lead at one point. But Ithaca scored nine of the final 12 points to take the set.
- Neither side led by more than three points in the final set in a back-and-forth battle. Ithaca eventually clinched the match with a 26-24 triumph in the third set.
- Leaders for the Saints included Maya Harris (12 kills), Natalie Bialecki (31 assists), Eliza Freeman (11 digs), and Sabrina Schoeberlein (.353 hitting percentage).
JOHNS HOPKINS 3, MARYMOUNT 0
- Marymount struggled to get anything going against the No. 3 ranked team in the nation and reigning NCAA tournament quarterfinalist, Johns Hopkins.
- Hopkins won each set handily (25-12, 25-7, 25-10).
- Schoeberlein led the Saints with five kills while Harris and Katee Stromberg both finished with positive hitting percentages.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will remain on the road to take on Stevenson on Wednesday at 7 PM.
- The Saints will return to Converse Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6 PM against Gwynedd Mercy.
