WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After a sudden shift in venues to Gallaudet University due to weather conditions, Marymount softball played Marywood University and claimed the victory over the Pacers, 3-1. In a season ending tiebreaker game, the Saints were unable to pull out the win, falling short 11-2 after five innings.Â
The Saints finished their third full season as a program with an overall record of 20-22-1.Â
GAME ONE
- The Saints broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning with single to right field from Jenna Jew, allowing Ashleigh Mannion to score.
- In the fourth inning, Kaylynn Johnson hit a home run to center field for 1 RBI.Â
- The Pacers picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth, putting the score at 2-1.
- The Saints secured the win over the Pacers in the top of the seventh inning with a single to left center from Haley Greer and Mannion advanced home.Â
- Shanyn Burch was the winning pitcher for this game after pitching a total of 7.0 innings. She put up three strikeouts and zero earned runs after seeing 27 batters.
GAME TWO
- In this tense tiebreaker game, the Saints put two runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run from Johnson, her second of the day.
- The Pacers scored one run in the fourth inning, the score stood at 2-1 going into the top of the fifth.
- In a tough fifth inning, Marywood scored a total of 10 runs. This included a grand slam, two bases-loaded walks, and two singles. The Saints ended their season in the bottom of the fifth inning as the final score stood at 11-2.Â
