LEXINGTON, VA -- Marymount men's volleyball played Juniata College in the CVC semifinals tonight after beating Rutgers-Newark 3-1 on Tuesday. Going into this match with a 22-9 record overall and a 6-2 conference record, the Saints couldn't quite keep up with Juniata for the second time this season, ultimately falling short 3-0.Â
NOTABLE
- Will Wright totaled six kills, two service aces, three blocks, and three digs.
- Mason Moore totaled four kills (.286), and three blocks.
- Evan Cao contributed with 12 assists.
- Devon Robinson led the team defensively with five digs.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints lost to Juniata in the semifinals last year as well. As a result, Marymount came out swinging but it wasn't enough as they were unable to take the first frame from the Eagles (25-19).Â
- The second frame looked the same as Juniata quickly gained a lead over the Saints. Despite gaining a couple last minute points, the Eagles scored three points in a row to clinch the win 25-16.Â
- Riding off adrenaline, the Eagles had a seven point consecutive run in the middle of the frame to widen the margin between the Saints. Juniata closed out the semifinal match strong with a final score of 25-15.
