TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball fell to #22 Christopher Newport on Tuesday afternoon in their final non-conference contest before AEC play this upcoming weekend.
They drop to 11-4 on the season looking ahead to conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Captains got on the board in the top of the third, the Saints answered with a run of their own in the bottom frame thanks to an RBI double off the bat of Bobby Leitzel, scoring Quincy Via who singled and stole second in the previous at-bat.
- The Saints were unable to push anything further across, ultimately dropping the affair.
- Via, Leitzel, and Ryan Cuadros each collected a hit in the loss.
- Ryan Mariani took the loss on the mound, dishing out 5.1 innings, allowing four earned runs, and striking out three.
- Kyle Lewis pitched 2.0 innings of scoreless relief, striking out one.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will start conference action this upcoming weekend, first heading to Neumann Friday for a 3:30 PM first pitch.
- They will then take on the Knights in a doubleheader the next day to finish off the series.
- The doubleheader will begin at 12 PM.
