ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount men's basketball earned their second straight Atlantic East Title at home on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy 83-72.
The Saints move to 19-8 overall on the season, one win short of their program record, ahead of the NCAA Tournament next weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montell Cooper went off for 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three blocks. and two steals to lead the way for the Saints.
- Marcus Stubbs dropped 18 alongside seven total rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the balanced effort.
- Marcus Beckett put up 14, going 3-5 from beyond the arc, with three assists and a pair of rebounds.
- Wyatt Hockenberry had 10 off of the bench, shooting 50% from the floor.
- CJ Highsmith Jr. had eight points with his eight boards, swatting away two blocks and grabbing a steal.
- Jack Bifano had six key boards in the matchup to help lead the Saints in the second half of play.
- After leading by just two heading into the half, the Saints outscored the Griffins 46-37 in the second half to secure the win.
- Marymount's win streak over Gwynedd Mercy moves to four in a row.
