ARLINGTON -- An early deficit proved too much for Marymount men's lacrosse to overcome on Wednesday as the Saints dropped their season-opener to McDaniel, 9-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- McDaniel ripped three goals in a row, including one man-up tally, over a 30-second span to take a 3-0 lead three minutes into the contest.
- Marymount's defense settled in before Bryan Maguire (1G) got one back for the Saints with 23 seconds left in the first quarter.
- Mason Vandawater (1G) ripped a shot right between the goalie's legs to get Marymount within one after a nice pass from Ian Fructuoso.
- McDaniel padded its lead with two more goals to close the first half with a 5-2 lead.
- Despite second-half goals from Jack Williams (1G, 1A), Paul Vey (1G, 2A), and Chris Bochilo (2G), McDaniel did enough to clinch a 9-6 victory.
- McDaniel won 12-of-18 faceoffs and went 2-of-4 on extra man opportunities, compared to 1-of-3 for Marymount.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will travel to take on Messiah on Saturday at 1 PM.
- The Saints are scheduled to return to Long Bridge Park on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 PM against St. Mary's (Md.).
