CHAMPS! Marymount Swimming Repeats as AEC Champions

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Marymount swimming keeps the trophy at Marymount, as both the men's and women's team reclaim the Atlantic East Conference Championship. This is the second year in a row for the Saints.

The men stayed atop the standings throughout the weekend, with the women using a strong, final event finish to take the trophy.

RELAY TOP RESULTS INDIVIDUAL TOP RESULTS
  • Trevor Cairns broke the 200 yard backstroke meet record, taking gold with a time of 1:54.01. Teammate Garrett Peck notched bronze with a time of 1:59.43.
  • The Saints took over the podium in the women's 200 yard backstroke: Alexandra Pette with gold (2:11.32), Cara Craig with silver (2:12.77), and Arianna Koerner with bronze (2:14.22).
  • Luke Claudy earned silver in the men's 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.41, with Carsten Hicks right behind in bronze at 48.25.
  • Ilana Hawkins placed second, earning silver, in the women's 100 yard freestyle at 54.88. Lillian Crawley earned a bronze medal with a time of 55.01.
  • Evan Pak picked up a third place finish in the men's 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:14.33.
  • Tidawee Srun made more history, breaking the conference meet record in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.41. Teammate Ella DeNicola earned a bronze medal in the same event with a time of 2:38.01.
  • Alexander Hain placed second in the men's 200 yard butterfly, notching a time of 1:55.55. Daniel Caldwell placed just behind with a finishing time of 2:00.51.
  • Isabella Ochalik took third in the women's 200 yard butterfly event, finishing with a time of 2:28.75.
  • Garrett Watson earned gold in the men's 1650 yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 16:44.63, a new meet record. Devin Coster placed third with a time of 19:30.81.
  • Sydney Runk earned first place gold in the women's 1650 yard freestyle with a finishing time of 19:01.46.

  • Women's Team: 479 (Second Place - Five points behind St. Mary's)
RELAY TOP RESULTS INDIVIDUAL TOP RESULTS
  • Marymount placed one-two in the men's 400 yard individual medley: Garrett Watson in first (4:18.45) and Garrett Peck in second (4:20.53).
  • The Saints went one-two in the women's 400 yard individual medley, too: Cara Craig taking gold (4:49.73) and Tidawee Srun with silver (4:55.46)
  • Carsten Hicks nabbed gold in the men's 100 yard butterfly finals with a time of 50.63, with teammate Gavin Keane notching bronze at 52.09.
  • Ilana Hawkins placed silver in the women's 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1:01.52. Teammate Alexandra Pette placed third at 1:02.48.
  • Trevor Cairns placed silver in the men's 200 yard freestyle event at 1:44.91, with Luke Claudy coming in right behind at 1:45.16.
  • Lillian Crawley won the women's 200 yard freestyle event at 1:57.58.
  • Even Pak took bronze in the men's 100 yard breaststroke with a finishing time of 1:01.09.
  • Tidawee Srun won gold in the women's 100 yard breaststroke at 1:06.86. Ella DeNicola found herself on the podium with a fourth place finish at 1:11.89.
  • The men took three of the top five finishes in the men's 100 yard backstroke: Alexander Hain in first (52.68), Justin Singletary in third (54.58), and Matthew Jones in fourth (56.11).
  • Arianna Koerner placed a meet record in the women's 100 yard backstroke event at 1:00.79, placing first. Alexandra Pette placed silver at 1:01.28.

DAY TWO

  • Men's Team: 305 (First Place)
  • Women's Team: 231 (Second Place - 17 points behind St. Mary's)
RELAY TOP RESULTS INDIVIDUAL TOP RESULTS
  • Garrett Watson picked up 17 points for the Saints with a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle event (4:45.73), with teammate Seth Reinsel right behind at third (4:52.72), and Daniel Caldwell at fourth (4:56.81).
  • Lillian Crawley took gold in the women's 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.79, with teammate Sydney Runk right behind at third with a finish of 5:34.33.
  • The Saints picked up the top three spots of the podium in the 200 yard IM event: Alexander Hain in first (1:55.20), Trevor Cairns at second (1:56.13), and Garrett Peck in third (2:00.11).
  • Cara Craig picked up silver in the women's 200 yard IM with a time of 2:17.36. Ella DeNicola finished fourth, picking up solid points for the women's team, notching a time of 2:25.26.
  • Luke Claudy finished silver in the men's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.38, with Carsten Hicks finishing bronze at 21.59.
  • The women's 50 yard freestylers picked up points in the 50 yard freestyle: Ilana Hawkins at second (25.33), Arianna Koerner at third (25.52), and Payton so at fourth (26.45).
