WASHINGTON -- In its final regular-season matches of the season, Marymount women's volleyball earned rivalry win over Catholic on Friday night by a 3-1 final score. Earlier in the evening, the Saints fell 3-1 to Lynchburg.
Marymount will head into the Atlantic East Tournament as the No. 1 seed with a 6-0 conference record and a 10-21 overall mark.
LYNCHBURG 3, MARYMOUNT 1
- In a very evenly-matched contest, the Saints took the second set, 25-23, but narrowly fell in the other three sets.
- Maya Harris led the Saints with an impressive 20 kills while hitting at a .264 clip. She also added eight digs on the defensive end.
- Harper Wolf also had double-digit kills with 10 while Eliza Freeman led the Saints with 19 digs.
- Natalie Bialecki piloted the offense with 37 assists.
MARYMOUNT 3, CATHOLIC 1
- For the third straight season, Marymount women's volleyball earned a point in the yearlong Pope's Cup rivalry.
- Harris continued to dominate in the nightcap, smashing a career-high 26 kills. The total ranks second in program history (since 2006) for kills in a match, just trailing behind Mykael Johnson (Oct. 22, 2019 and Nov. 7, 2019) and Christina LaVigna (Oct. 5, 2007), who both hit 27 kills.
- Four Saints earned double-digit digs, including Bialecki, Harris, and Freeman. But it was first-year Flynn Husband leading the way with 17 digs.
- Wolf added another 10-kill performance against the Cardinals.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will host the winner of No. 5 seed Pratt and No. 4 seed Gwynedd Mercy in the Atlantic East semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 14.
- Time will be announced after the results of Tuesday's first-round matchup.
