ASTON, Pa. - Marymount women's volleyball opened up Atlantic East action on Wednesday evening, taking the trip to Neumann University to take down the Knights 3-1.
With the win, the Saints move to 1-0 in the early going of their conference slate.
NOTABLE
- Harper Wolf led the offense for Marymount with 20 kills, hitting .173, adding five digs and two block assists for 21.0 points.
- Maya Harris put up a strong outing in the AEC match up, knocking 14 kills at a .270 clip with three digs and a block assist.
- Natalie Bialecki facilitated the offense with 38 assists on the night, adding eight total digs.
- Katee Stromberg had five kills and two blocks.
- Eliza Freeman led the way in the digs department with 21.
- Renae Rohrer (16) and Ava Humphries (13) added double-digit digs in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints opened the match with five-straight points to gain strong momentum in the early going.
- Up 19-18, the Saints utilized a 6-to-1 run, capped off by a kill from Emily Genau, to take the first set.
- Set two was all Marymount, with the Saints taking the 2-0 lead 25-14. They finished off the set with a five-point run, taking advantage of the Knights' mistakes and Harris finishing them off with a big kill.
- Neumann took set three 25-18 to try to get back into the match.
- Marymount maintained steady momentum in the fourth and final set, with Harris knocking down the final kill to secure the AEC win.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will hit the road this weekend, first playing Stevens on Friday evening at 6 PM before heading to new AEC foe Pratt on Saturday at 11 AM.
- They will be back at home next Wednesday, Oct. 23, for another AEC match up, this one against the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy at 6 PM.
