FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Marymount University Women's Volleyball team fought hard on their first day of play at a tri-match hosted at the University of Mary Washington, but fell short. The Saints took one set against the Muhlenberg Mules but fell against the Eagles in a 3-0 decision.

NOTABLE

• In the match against Muhlenberg, Kaitlyn Doyle led the Saints in the young season with 16 kills. She also totaled 15 digs.
• Alexis Franklin contributed 23 assists in this match. Sydney Sands added 20. 
• Eliza Freeman led the team defensively with 27 digs.
• In the match against Mary Washington, Natalie Bialecki led the Saints defensively with 13 digs. She also added 14 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the tightly contested match against Muhlenberg, Marymount lost the first set 24-26 but fought hard in the second set, winning 25-22. 
• Unfortunately dropping the next two sets, the Saints fought hard as they pushed the fourth set well past 25 points, ultimately falling short 31-33. 
• Mary Washington controlled the first set ending with 25-16. However, the Saints rebounded in the following two sets bringing the score closer but ultimately falling short giving the victory to the Eagles. 

UP NEXT

• Marymount is set to play Gallaudet in their first home match of the season on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. 
• At the end of the week, Marymount will travel to Lexington, Virginia to attend the Washington & Lee University Invitational where they will battle four teams across Friday and Saturday.
