Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Warriors in Florida

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - On day two of the SpringFling event for the Saints women's lacrosse team, Marymount picked up a win over Eastern Connecticut, 16-9. 

The win puts the Saints at 5-3 overall on the season, with one more matchup scheduled down in Florida. 

Notable
  • Graduate student Emily Peters had a career day in the win, putting four goals in the net for four points, adding three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a draw control to her line. 
  • Taylor Chepren had three goals and two assists for five total points.
  • Arayla Garcia notched 13 total draw controls in the contest, adding two goals, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. 
  • Megan Edens put three past the goalie in the affair with five draw controls. 
  • Kaleigh Dunham had two goals on three total shots. 
  • Tess Valentino had a goal and an assist, adding two ground balls and a caused turnover. 
How It Happened
  • The Saints got it started early, with Chepren finding Love with the open look to put the first in the net for the Saints, taking the early 1-0 lead at the 13:49 mark. 
  • The Warriors got two goals to take the lead at 2-1.
  • Marymount sank eight-straight unanaswered goals, capped off by a free position goal from Peters to take a commanding 9-to-2 lead with just over two minutes left in the first quarter of play. 
  • The Saints opened the second quarter of play with four-straight goals, highlighted by two from Chepren, to go up by 10 with 10:31 left in the second quarter. 
  • Eastern Connecticut sank three to finish out the half to put the game at 13-6 in favor of the Saints.
  • The second half proved to be slower on the offensive end, but MU held strong, with Edens and Chepren each notching goals in the third quarter.
  • The fourth and final quarter of play saw just two goals scored, one from each team, sending the Saints to the win by its final tally of 16-to-9.

  • Marymount wraps up their SpringFling slate tomorrow, Mar. 16th, taking on Kenyon College at 7 PM.
