Women’s Basketball Handles Salisbury

ARLINGTON – From start to finish on Saturday afternoon, Marymount women's basketball controlled Salisbury in a commanding 75-43 victory. The Saints improved to 8-3 with the win. 
 
NOTABLE
  • The matchup marked former Marymount assistant coach Aprile Preller's return to Arlington for the first time since departing over the summer.
  • Chandler Eddleton got back to her dominant ways with 19 points and eight rebounds oon 9-of-14 from the field.
  • Symantha Shackelford went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points.
  • All 16 members of the roster saw action in the win.
  • The Saints' defense held Salisbury to just 28.0 percent from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Right off the bat, Marymount jumped out an 11-0 lead over the first four minutes.
  • A 3-pointer from Shackelford right before the buzzer gave MU a 23-8 lead after the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, Marymount continued to control the pace and led by as many as 25 before closing with a 42-18 lead at the half.
  • In the third quarter, Ava Achtyl made three buckets in a row to give the Saints a 31-point lead. The Saints held a 61-33 advantage after the period was over.
  • It was more of the same in the final frame as the Saints cruised to a 75-43 victory.
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will have the week off for finals before competing in the Catholic Classic on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19.
  • Marymount will return to Converse Family Fieldhouse on Dec. 30 against King's College at 1 PM.
