ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount men's basketball took care of business on Sunday afternoon, taking down the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin in the Pablo Coto Championship game 77-to-52.
With the win, the Saints move to 3-2 on the year, going 2-0 over the home weekend.Â
NOTABLE
- Marcus Stubbs won the Most Outstanding Player award over the weekend. In the championship game, the senior dropped 11 total points with four assists and four rebounds.Â
- Marcus Beckett took home All-Tournament Team honors, pulling down five boards and dishing three assists in the win, adding a trio of steals.Â
- Isaac Harris had 13 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor, while dishing three assists and pulling down three rebounds.
- CJ Highsmith Jr. had 11 points on the afternoon with two rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.Â
- The Saints bench took matters into their own hands a majority of the contest, with Marymount having 42 points from players off of the bench.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MU opened the contest with a quick 9-0 spurt, capped off by a three from Stubbs to give the Saints' bench momentum.
- A three from Harris gave the Saints an 18-point lead with just under 11 minutes left in the half.Â
- MBU had a few significant runs of their own to make matters close, with the game going into the half at 31-27 in favor of the Saints.
- MU continued to maintain offensive pressure starting the second half. Jack Bifano sank a layup near the 16-minute mark to give Marymount a 10-point lead.
- Highsmith Jr. found a pass from Stubbs, dunking to gain the points and throw the Marymount bench into hysterics.Â
- Jase Mosley sank a three off the pass of Reuben McEachern to round out the scoring for Marymount.Â
