FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Marymount men's soccer fell into an early deficit against NC Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon and couldn't complete the comeback, falling 1-0 in a match held on the campus of Mary Washington.  

NOTABLE

• Nicolas Varona earned his first career start between the pipes.
• Leonardo Torres led the Saints with three shots.
• Derek Rivera had Marymount's lone shot on goal for the afternoon.
• Both teams had three corner kicks.
• Marymount held an 8-7 advantage in shots taken.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• NC Wesleyan jumped ahead on a goal in the fourth minute by Mauro Infante.
• Rivera's shot on goal came in the 65th minute.
• The Saints drew a corner in the 88th minute but couldn't generate a quality scoring chance.

• "After a very unfortunate early goal, we played an incredibly organized and inspired game. We did a great job of frustrating a very good team and in the final 20 minutes had several great chances to equalize. All of this occuring with three normal starting defenders out with injuries."
