ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount men's soccer won a hard-fought battle by a 5-1 score against Washington Adventist on Wednesday night thanks to three second-half goals.

NOTABLE

• Leonardo Torres moved into sole possession of fifth place on Marymount's career goals list with his early tally. He now has 19 career goals.
• Derek Rivera now sits in a tie for third place in career assists with 12.
• Dylan Hirmas and Fredy Vargas both scored their first career goals.
• Nine total cards were called in a physical match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Torres put Marymount on the board just under two minutes into the game off assists from Manny Gaunaurd and Rivera.
• Washington Adventist drew even thanks to a penalty kick goal from Jose Melendez in the 18th minute.
• Hirmas put MU on top in the 37th minute off a set piece from Jesus Rios.
• Guevara, Gaunaurd, and Vargas each scored over a span of 12 minutes in the second half to ice the victory.

• "Washington Adventist threw some things at us we weren't expecting and haven't seen this year. They had some very athletic and dangerous forwards. Great credit to the team for adjusting and moving to a 4-4-3 on the fly. It was great to see five guys make the scoring column. Dylan's game-winner was very nice."
