ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's tennis saw its first taste of action at home at Virginia Highlands Park on Friday afternoon, but the Saints fell to Virginia Wesleyan University, 7-2.
After the Saints fell in the first two doubles matches, they rebounded with a hard-fought 8-7 win at the third spot. Melody Salguero and Angelica Dalton teamed to take down Maya Brown and Kristina Abrams, with a win in the tiebreaker set, 7-1.
In singles action, MU picked up a win at the fifth spot via Angela Campbell. Campbell took the first set, 6-3, before the Marlins' Kristina Abrams battled back with a 6-2 win in the second. Campbell held steady, however, and earned the win via a 10-6 decision in the tiebreaker. Caroline Haymans battled at the No. 1 spot, but fell 6-2, 6-3.
The Blue and White return to action Wednesday, April 23, when they battle Sweet Briar College on the road.
