SHENANDOAH, Va. -- The Marymount University men's tennis team fought valiantly on Sunday evening but fell short against Shenandoah University in a 6-3 decision.
The Saints picked up three wins against the Hornets in singles action. Michael Miller impressed at first singles for the Blue and White with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Keith Orr.
Dorian Guiot picked up a hard-fought win at No. 2 singles. The Frankfurt, Germany, native took the first set 6-2 and held on in a tight second set, 7-5. Nicholas Stromberg rounded out the Saints' wins in singles with a 6-0 win over Vitali Rivera, who had to retire during the first set.
While the Blue and White were unable to find a way past the Hornets in doubles action, they pushed the home side to the brink. Miller and Stromberg teamed at the top doubles spot and had a strong showing in an 8-5 decision. Guiot and Lwazi-Enno Rennert teamed at No. 2 doubles and fought valiantly before falling in an 8-3 decision.
Marymount returns to action on Friday, March 18, when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan University at 11:00 a.m.
