Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Marymount University men's basketball team pushed its win streak to five consecutive games with an 82-69 win over Marywood University on the road.
The Saints took the Electric City by storm on Monday evening as they rolled to their eighth Atlantic East Conference victory of the season. MU shot 58.0% (29-for-50) from the floor to outlast the Pacers in a contest that featured six lead changes. The Blue and White's penchant for transition scoring was showcased once again with 25 points off of fast breaks compared to just 11 from Marywood.
Marymount took a three-point lead into the halftime break, but the Pacers built a seven-point lead over the first five minutes of the second half. MU didn't let Marywood capitalize, however, as Wyatt Hockenberry put the Saints back into the lead with a jumper near the 12-minute mark.
While Marywood eventually knotted the score at 54-54, the Saints erupted for a 16-point run that spanned three minutes to take a 70-54 lead. Marcus Stubbs supplied eight points during the barrage, while Montell Cooper, Xavier Reaves, Jack Bifano, and Nick Rivas all got in on the action to round out the momentum-shifting charge. That run proved to be the difference, as the Pacers desperately tried to get back into the contest. MU continued to find the bottom of the net however as the Saints nailed their late free throws to seal the victory.
Stubbs paced the Saints' scorers with 16 points on 6-of-12 (50%) shooting. Cooper added 14 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal to mark the 14th time this season that the sophomore has hit double figures. Rivas tallied a season-high-tying 11 points to go along with four assists. Hockenberry rounded out MU's double-digit scorers with 10 points.
The Saints remain on the road for their next contest on Wednesday, February 16, when they take on Immaculata University at 8:00 p.m.
