Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University men's basketball team pushed its win streak to four consecutive games on Saturday afternoon with a 63-41 drubbing of Gwynedd Mercy University.
The Saints picked up their second-consecutive win by a margin of 20 or more points as they flew past the Griffins. MU led for a whopping 38 minutes of the tilt, while Gwynedd Mercy never pushed past the Blue and White during the contest.
Marymount shot 41.4% from the floor and knocked down nine shots from beyond the arc to keep ahead of the visitors. The Saints' defense held the Griffins to a 23.1% mark from three-point range and forced Gwynedd Mercy into 20 turnovers.
MU's defensive effort spurred its offense throughout the tilt. Marymount scored 15 points off of turnovers and showcased its penchant for scoring in the open court. The Blue and White netted 10 points off of fast-break chances to keep the Griffins off balance.
Wyatt Hockenberry led the way for the Saints with 16 points. The sophomore finished the contest 6-for-10 from the floor and hit three shots from downtown. Montell Cooper and Marcus Stubbs each chipped in eight points. Roey Stern and Xavier Reaves paced the Bue and White on the glass with five rebounds apiece.
The Saints will look for their fifth consecutive victory on Wednesday, February 16, when they travel to Immaculata University. The contest is set for an 8:00 p.m. start.
