Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's soccer team earned its first win of the season in front of its home fans on Wednesday evening, as the Saints dominated the visiting Bison of Gallaudet University en route to a 2-0 victory.
Marymount (1-2) controlled possession of the ball throughout the contest which resulted in a whopping 41 shots. Gallaudet's (0-3) limited time on the ball translated to just seven shots. The Saints' offensive pressure also produced six corner kick chances.
MU blitzed Gallaudet right out of the gate, as Chloe White netted the first goal of her career just 18 seconds into the contest. A pair of quick passes freed White to run in behind the Bison defense and the Woodbridge, Virginia, native made no mistake with a shot past the goalkeeper into the left corner.
The Saints continued to hold a high line and peppered the Bison goal with shots. The effort paid off in the 62nd minute. Marisol Zuniga-Castaneda started the play with a run down the left flank. The freshman whipped a cross into the 18-yard box that found the feet of Sita Nair. The product of Falls Church, Virginia, calmly redirected the ball past Gallaudet's netminder for MU's second and decisive goal.
Laney Placido and Nair led MU's barrage with nine shots apiece. White fired six shots, while Emely Obregon posted four shots. Grace Needham earned the first win of her career in goal with three saves in a 90-minute performance.
MU remains at home for its next contest on Saturday, September 11, when the Saints welcome York College (Pa.) to Long Bridge Park for a 4:00 p.m. tilt.
