Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. -- An early goal for Goucher College made the difference on Wednesday evening, as the Marymount University women's soccer team fell in a tightly-contest battle on the road.
Marymount (1-4) went back-and-forth with Goucher (2-2) throughout the contest, as neither side found much separation from the other. The Saints ended the contest with a 7-6 advantage in shots but were unable to beat Goucher's Jenna Abaza for a goal.
Chloe White and Taylor Memon both tested the Gophers' netminder with shots on target throughout the contest. White forced Abazza into a pair of saves in the first half, while Memon saw an effort in the second half turned away. MU's final chance of the night came in the 83rd minute, but Laney Placido's shot flew wide of the goal.
Grace Needham started in goal for the Saints for the fifth consecutive contest and finished with four saves.
Marymount returns home for its next contest on Saturday, September 18, when the Saints welcome Mary Baldwin University to Long Bridge Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
