Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Marymount University women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the high-powered offense of No. 5/9 nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University on Sunday afternoon, as the Saints fell to the Captains, 93-39.
Christopher Newport deployed a balanced attack, which featured three double-digit scorers. MU's defense forced the Captains into 10 turnovers, but a 52.8% (38-for-72) field-goal percentage from the home side kept Christopher Newport ahead of the Saints.
Symantha Shackelford led the way for the Saints with 12 points, her second consecutive double-digit outing. Shackelford added two assists and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
Chandler Eddleton added eight points and two assists in 17 minutes, while Katie McShea chipped in seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds. McShea, finished with double-digit rebounds for the third-straight contest, which brought her season total to seven games with double-figure boards.
The Saints return to action in the New Year on Sunday, January 2, when they host Trinity College (Conn.) at 1:00 p.m.
