WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Marymount University men's basketball team took down the Catholic University of America on Wednesday, 74-69, for its third-consecutive victory.

Senior Xavier Reaves got the team going with the first four points in the game, opening the contest with a dunk and sparking a 9-3 run. Senior Miles Brown hit a three-pointer to give the Saints their six-point advantage.

The teams traded runs through much of the first half, combining for three lead changes. Late in the half, the Saints trailed by 10 with 3:24 to play.

Sophomore Jack Farrelly drained a three to start another 9-3 spurt to close the half. Reaves accounted for the Saints' final six points in the frame, as Marymount brought the deficit down to just four, 33-29, by halftime.

At the break, Reaves led the team with 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals. He was eight-for-nine from the field.

The Cardinals continued to hold their lead through the second half, but the Saints kept the score close. After forcing two ties, Brown broke through to regain the lead for Marymount with another three.

The teams battled through two more lead changes and one more tie, but the Saints grabbed the lead for good at the 3:41 mark on a three-pointer from senior Roey Stern.

Marymount converted eight free throws in the final minutes to hold onto the lead and put the game away, as sophomore Montell Cooper scored four of them.

Four Saints hit double-digits in the win, as Reaves scored a team-high 25 to continue his strong start to the season. He added team-highs with seven rebounds and five steals. Cooper and Stern, each, scored 13, while Brown added 10.

Marymount will return to the court on Saturday, December 4 on the road at the University of Mary Washington. The opening tip is set for 3 p.m.
