Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Marymount University men's soccer team brought the 2021 campaign to a close on Friday evening with an offensive showcase in a 9-1 win over Gallaudet University in the nation's capital
The Blue and White featured a relentless attack against the Bison that resulted in a 28-10 advantage in shots. Marymount's nine goals are the most the Saints have scored in a win since a 12-1 drubbing of Patrick Henry in the 2014 season.
MU started the barrage early, as rookie Jonathan Guevara potted the first goal of his career in the 17th minute. Guevara's strike opened the floodgates for the Saints, as Manny Gaunaurd, Leonardo Torres, and Matthew Correa made it 4-0 before the end of the first half.
Kane Melendez kept the offense rolling to open the second frame with a solo effort in the 49th minute. Correa added his second goal three minutes later off of a pass from Guevara. Melendez bagged his second goal in the 58th minute to set the score at 7-0.
The Bison managed to steal a goal back, but the Saints were unfazed. After a brief lull following Gallaudet's goal, Marymount resumed the barrage in the 81st minute. This time, Grande was the danger man, as the senior combined with Gaunaurd. Ronald Clark gave the game its final scoreline with a goal in the 90th minute.
Clark started the game in goal before heading into the field. The senior made one save in 45 minutes of work to earn the victory. Melendez and Correa paced the Saints with two goals apiece. Guevara posted a season best three points with one goal and two assists. Gaunaurd finished with three points as well, with one goal and a pair of helpers. Grande rounded out the Blue and White's multi-point scorers with a goal and an assist.
