ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's basketball fell to the Cardinals of Catholic University by a final score of 65-53 to close out the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening. 

Neither side got much going in the opening quarter with intense defensive efforts on both sides of the court. MU held Catholic to a 29.4% (5-for-17) mark from the floor and didn't allow a single three-pointer over the first 10 minutes. 

Marymount started to chip away in the second quarter, as the offense rebounded with a 54.5% (6-for-11) field goal percentage. Chandler Eddleton led the charge during the frame with seven points, while Katie McShea supplied four points. 

The Saints' offense continued to find a groove in the third quarter, as Marymount outscored the Cardinals, 18-12. A seven-point run pulled the Blue and White back within two points at 39-37 with 2:48 left on the clock. MU showcased a knack for getting to the free-throw line during the run, as Symantha Shackelford, Claire Smith, and McShea all netted from the charity stripe. 

Despite the Blue and white's best efforts, Catholic maintained its lead throughout the fourth quarter. Marymount cut the deficit to one with 5:19 on the clock after Smith earned a trip to the free-throw line, but the Cardinals responded with six consecutive points to keep the Saints from seizing the momentum. 

McShea paced the Saints with a game-high 22 points and registered a double-double with 12 rebounds. Eddleton added 10 points en route to a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Shackelford finished with eight points, while Anna Schools set a new career-best with seven points. 

Marymount hits the road for its next contest on Tuesday, November 23, when the Saints battle Shenandoah University at 6:00 p.m.
